Sepideh Raissadat was born in 1980 and is one of the young female voices from Iran. When she was nine years old she started her musical education with Parisa, the famous female Iranian singer. She also studied, a.o., with another legend: Mohammad Reza Lotfi. Sepideh Raissadatnot only has got a great voice, but is a gifted setar (Iranian lute) player too. She has always been free to learn music, but women are not allowed to perform solo in Iran since the islamic revoltion of 1979.
In 1999 Sepideh Raissadat was the first woman to perform in public as a duo, with her former teacher Parviz Meshkatian. Tonight the magical, flexible voice of Sepideh Raissadat will be accompanied by violin and tombak (percussion).
