At Persian Drums under the direction of internationally acclaimed Mehrdad Arabi, we are devoted to provide a creative environment to learn and practice music, improve our skills, be exposed to musical structures and arrangements and, to perform.
Our domain is Persian classical and folk music. Initially, our main musical instruments are Daf and Tombak, the ancient Persian hand percussion instruments. Persian Drums offer regular teaching and practice courses through private and group sessions for every age group with or without musical experience. The students will learn the basic skills to read notes and will practice their skills by daf and Tombak notebooks, worksheets and cds provided according to their needs.
Further down the road, we aim to expand our possibilities to other domains such as:
Teaching other traditional instruments;
Providing some exposure to Persian musical theory,
Structures and arrangements;
Arranging group performances;
Organizing group workshops to advance the intermediate and above students’ musical skills;
Inviting professional musicians as guest teachers and/or performers for our future workshops and performances.
Therefore, the music lover attending Persian Drums will have the possibility to participate in occasional workshops as well as in all-percussion and/or multi-instrumental musical ensembles upon their will.
Music is our way to reach a larger community beyond any language, tradition, race and religion and through our modest means we are determined to create a healthy musical community through Persian music heritage and beyond.
