Farr (Farok) Ligvani has spent his life exploring and expressing world through art. Born in Tehran, Iran in 1957, he started painting at the age of four and designing furniture at twelve. In 1976, Ligvani moved to Los Angeles, studying Architecture at Southern California Institute of Architecture and Industrial Design at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. His creative path led him to an eclectic, distinguished career in designing, building, consulting and teaching.
Ligvani's fine art work, enriched by training in design as well as individual explorations of Eastern worldview and Western psychology, is not restricted to any one form of expression. Probing the paradox between simplicity and complexity, searching for balance in modern industrial society, his art evokes a sense of wonder and yearning for intuitive understanding in his audience. Ligvani's work shows an enthusiasm for exploration and interpretation, while inviting reflection. He sees his fine art is the very embodiment of the statement "grandiose is in simplicity."
Artist Statement
Nomadic journey in between the lines, meandering through the unlived and veiled corners of life, climbing up the blocks of impediment, and the sudden landing on the spots of the unexpected are the "processes" that I call declutterization as an integral part of my expression in art, and as a cultivated soil to plant simplicity.
