CONTEST RULES AND DETAILS
Who: All students in grades 6 – 12. Sponsor: Mehregan Festival Orange County
What: Original essays on the topic of Iranian Traditional Festivities or the “Shahnameh” Epic of Kings, no longer than 150 lines, word processed –standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, size 12)
When: Due Sept 10th, 2010. Announcement of winners will be made by Sept 20th.
Where: Submit Essays to: NIPOC 2082 Business Center Drive Suite 258 Irvine CA 92612-116, Attention: Shoja Adel
How: Each entry includes the following information on the first page: Student Name Student Phone Number, School Grade, School Phone Number, English Teacher’s Name and School Address. Entries must be received by Sept 10th to be considered. An impartial panel convened by Mehregan Festival will judge the entries.
Why: Relevant learning opportunity: connect world traditions and literature with student learning in language arts and social studies. All the participants get free admission to the festival.
Prizes: The award ceremony will be at 3 pm, Sept 26th at the “Hall of Shahnameh” in the festival. Winners at the Honorable Mention level through 1st to 3rd Place receive certificates of commendation. Winners receive gift certificates prize details: Gift certificates in the amounts of $100 – 1st place; $70 – 2nd place and $30 – 3rd place. There would be a drawing for prizes (The Shahnameh book and CDs) for all the present participants.
