Following swiftly on the heels of one of the biggest music festivals on the planet - Glastonbury - July's movie of choice is not actually about Persian cats as the title suggests, it's about rock n roll!
Filmed in just 17 days, with a borrowed camera and without the approval of the Iranian government, this 2009 Cannes Film Festival Winner portrays the Iran that you don't see in the news bulletins: it's the Iran that loves rock, heavy metal and rap!
This semi-documentary film explores Tehran's underground music scene and the story of a group of twenty-something Iranian rock musicians who are desperate to get permission to play a gig in London. But with Iran's strict laws that forbid secular music, do they even stand a chance?
And why is this film about music titled "No One Knows About Persian Cats"?
