Over the course of four sessions we’ll explore the history, controversies, poets and poems of the Farsi language. The sessions will have a special focus on:
1/28 — 1:00 - 3:30 pm
2/4 — 1-3:30 pm
2/11 — 1-3:30 pm
2/18 — 1-3:30 pm
2/28 — 1-3:30 pm
- Contestations around Farsi vs. Dari
- The role of poetry in Afghanistan and in the diaspora
- Reading poetry by Mawlana (Rumi), Hafez, Sa’di, Bedil, and some modern poets
- Mysticism and Farsi poetry
The readings will be in the original language with explanations in English.
