Habib Borjian studied Iranian languages at Columbia University, University of Tehran and Yerevan State University. His focus is on the documentation and history of the Iranian languages, on which he has widely published in various journals, edited volumes and contributed to Encyclopaedia Iranica. He has also published in three volumes in Persian: Orthography of Iranian Languages, Tabari Texts, and Median Dialects of Isfahan. Dr. Borjian is a research scholar at the Center for Iranian Studies, Columbia University. He is on the board of directors of Endangered Language Alliance, aimed at documenting rare languages spoken by immigrant communities in New York City. He is also the regional director for the Middle East at Endangered Language Catalogue, a joint project of Google and University of Hawaii.
