'Silken Veils' is an original work that combines Rumi poetry, live actors, marionettes, shadow puppetry and bunraku-inspired puppet manipulation and animation. 'Silken Veils' opens with Darya, an Iranian-born American citizen, fleeing her own wedding ceremony. Abruptly, she enters a world of memories from her childhood in Iran where animations and puppetry are used to detail her experiences during the revolution of 1978 and the Iran-Iraq War. It is through these memories that Darya's parents reach out to their daughter, giving her the courage to love.
