This weekly program presents a selection of films from across the Middle East, from classic to contemporary, from experimental to melodrama, and more. The selection focuses on films acclaimed at national or international levels; hoping to highlight the fact that international success of films does not necessarily entail their national well reception and vice versa. This series is also hoping to offer a slice of this heterogeneous region through films, the represented images of the different cultures, languages and identities of the Middle East.
Each screening will be accompanied by a short introduction at the beginning. The introduction to each film serves to place it in the relevant socio-political context of its production, as well as indicate its position within the wider context of world cinema.
The screenings are open to public and everyone is welcome to join and bring friends.
