Azadi is a dance/ music live installation fusing contemporary dance and traditional Iranian music. Azadi is a long term project and artist Roxana Vilk will be showing the first stage of this work during the EIF 2013. The choreography for the dancers will draw on the geometrical patterns from the Museum of Scotland's vast collection of ancient Iranian Islamic tile and metal works. Traditional Iranian musicians will be responding to the numerical combinations in the geometrical patterns as a type of visual score, while drawing on and looping traditional melodies. See information on more events at the National Museum of Scotland on our Museum page.
There is also a film element to Azadi, which Roxana will be talking more about during her artist talk with Frederike Voigt.
