Rab Wilson (1960), an acclaimed Scottish poet, will recite poems from his ‘oversetting’ of Omar Khayyam’s quatrains in Scots.
Originally written in Persian around nine hundred years ago, the poems reflect on the little joys and sufferings, and the major existential questions of mankind in pithy phrases teeming with powerful images.
Rab wrestles with the same themes with a spirit which is Scottish in tone and situation. Dr Saeed Talajooy will recite the Persian originals alongside with Rab’s Scots version. The event includes a brief performance of Persian Music by Dr Parmis Mozafari.
