For Ebtekar’s first solo exhibition at The Third Line, the US based artist has decided to move away from decorative manuscript pages and detailed illustrations referencing Persian mythology with photography and contemporary fashion.
His subject revolves around portraits of young Iranian women which he then directly paints on embellishing them with external features of warrior and ancient armour common with Ebtekar’s works. This combination of imagery blends reality with fantasy, compelling the eye to seek out what is indeed real or constructed.
