This paper will argue that the Iranian Revolution posed a watershed moment in the formation of Iranian National Identity. The Islamic revolutionaries unleashed a number of forces that created a desire for Islamic Democracy, which reshaped almost every aspect of Iranian life. This paper will aim to cover how the Revolution fundamentally altered the cultural and political face of the nation. It will draw on a range of different sources to discuss how the Revolution represented a fundamental shift in the politics of the wider Middle Eastern region, and how the events of 1979 marked a turning point within international relations.
