7-8:30 p.m.- Salome & Her Dance of the Seven Veils – Evolution of a Myth- Dancer and independent scholar, Shireen Malik explores this fascinating story in a vibrant multimedia presentation of lecture, slides, and video, followed by a veil dance performance. The program is based on Malik’s extensive research as a contributing writer for The Veil: Women Writers On Its History, Lore, And Politics.
8:30-9:30 p.m.- Love & Mystery, a meditative concert of finger cymbal music - Jenna Woods and Amina Salah have been pioneering the use of finger cymbals as a sound-healing instrument since 2005. Their duet meditations build on the profound zillwork of Sufi master Adnan Sarhan. Love & Mystery is a sound journey evoking the cycle of our soul's path, first veiled from ourselves, then moved by our lives into a richer freedom of love, unveiled again.
