By the bleak lakeside, there’s a restaurant, where three cooks treating the students very suspiciously. The relation between the students and the cooks gradually becomes more weird as it seems the students are confronting some problems that there is no escape.
Director’s Biography: Born in 1977 in Marand, Iran, Shahram Mokri is a graduate of Cinema from Tehran’s Soureh College. He started making short films since 2000 and he’s also edited 8 TV dramas, 2 TV series and more than 20 short and documentary films. His short films brought him national and international recognition and Ashkan, The Charmed Ring And Other Stories is his debut feature film which had its international premiere at Busan IFF in 2009. Shahram’s second film, Fish and Cat, was premiered at Venice Film Festival and awarded “Creativity in Content Prize”.
Director’s Note: “Fish & Cat” is a film about time. It’s about how to make a perspective within time and, thereby, unhinge time. What fascinated me about making this film was the style of its execution: the insistence on a fictional narrative style within the bounds of single shot and the attempt to create fissures in time during that single shot. I chose to tell a true story in this film, a true story which, nevertheless, resembles a nightmare.
