Come enjoy homemade Persian treats, dance performances and shop to support our fundraising efforts for Simorgh, Farima Berenji's Comox Valley Dance Collective.
We are a group committed to furthering studies in Persian dance and dances of the Silk Road under the guidance of our teacher Farima Berenji as part of her larger collective project. Cathy Stokyo has been hosting bi annual weekend dance intensives with Farima at the Abbey Studio since 2013 and, in March 2015 the Comox Valley Simorgh Collective was formed. Simorgh currently has member companies in Alaska, Turkey, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Mauritius, the San Francisco Bay Area and now here in the Comox Valley! Collective members meet for regular practices at the Abbey Studio and we perform at community events sharing the dances/culture respectfully in our community. Funds raised will go towards furthering our studies and creating costuming.
Cash donations accepted at the door and donations for the Silent auction graciously accepted in advance.
Dancers will be running this event so volunteers will be needed to help out while we are performing! Let us know if you can help.
