The sanctions previously imposed on Iran, prohibiting trade with most Western countries, have now been lifted. Because of that, a market of 80 million consumers has now opened, which is a great opportunity for Danish businesses to increase their growth and exports. Politically, it was communicated as a great success for the Obama- and Rouhani administrations, and the media has thoroughly dealt with the immediate and long term political aftermath. However, we at ID CBS believe that there has not been given enough attention to what this actually means – on the ground – for businesses potentially wanting to venture into this new market. What are their concerns establishing themselves anew in Iran, and what potential do they see in this growing economy? What can and cannot be done? These are very straightforward questions that we, at ID CBS, simply do not know the answers to.
Therefore, we’re thrilled to announce our upcoming seminar on this particular topic. Our aim is to reach a higher understanding of the opportunities and challenges that have arisen from the removing of sanctions on Iran, and how this has impacted Danish businesses from different sectors. To help us answer these questions, not only are we joined by representatives from some of the biggest Danish companies; the Iranian ambassador to Denmark is also coming, to help us understand it from Iran’s perspective as well.
