gathering at the Women Against War billboard on Central Avenue in Colonie, being staged to protest the call to war with Iran that's building.
From the Organizers: "As propaganda pressure of the Bush Administration and the Israeli Government advocating air strikes against Iran builds once again, we'll gather at the Women Against War billboard, Central Avenue in Colonie, and let Capital District neighbors know that diplomacy and unconditional negotiation is the only practical way to deal with Iran. With our bodies, our energy, and our banners, photos and signs we'll amplify the message of the billboard: Please! Not another war -- Let's Negotiate with Iran."
Participants are asked to join for all or part of the rush hour vigil. The billboard is coming down on June 15th.
The groups will have our "No War on Iran" banners, and large photos of Iranian people available. "Burma Shave" type signs will be created in addition to banners and photos. Participants may bring their own signs about negotiations over military actions. The organizer give examples: "Bush & Cheney-Don't-Bomb-Iran - Diplomacy's-A Better-Plan!" and "Two-Four-Six-Eight-Don't-Bomb-Negotiate!"
