Babak Shahmansouri was born in Isfahan, Iran in 1979. He obtained his B.Sc. degree (2002) in civil Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology and his MBA degree (2007) from Sharif University of Technology. For the past few years he has been active as an entrepreneur as well as a management consultant. As an entrepreneur, he has cofounded a consultant and manufacturer in petrochemical industry; as a management consultant, he has been involved in several projects including “Designing a Management Control System for Iranian Mineral Industries Development and Renewal Organization (IMIDRO)”, “Restructuring of MAPNA Group”, “Developing Multi-producer Units for Isfahan Petrochemical Company”, “Customer Relationship Management of Mobarakeh Steel Company”, “Reviewing of National Iranian Building Codes” and “Applicant Database of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)”.
Improving the Iranian educational system has always been a personal interest for Babak Shahmansouri which ultimately led to foundation of “Asemaan Group” in 2000. In 2008, considering the need for a serious effort in order to improve the current educational system of his country, he decided to switch his career from business to education; therefore, he has focused on the restructuring and development of Asemaan Group for the last two years. Currently, he is seeking an MA degree in Educational Studies at McGill University with “growth dynamics of the Iranian educational NGOs” as his research project.
