This is documentary-theatre based on true facts from the life of three Iranian women. Mahnaz Dalir Rooy Fard was the wife of the wartime pilot and national hero Abbas Doran who died during the Iran-Iraq war. Shahla Jahed was the mistress of a well-known Iranian football player. She was convicted of his wife’s murder and sentenced to death. Leyla Esfandyari was a famous mountaineer who died during a trip in the Himalayas. They tell their tale while as they cook. Their monologues don’t just bear witness to their own life but also to the society in which they live. The title of the play refers to the way in which the human body adapts to changes in atmospheric pressure during mountaineering. Just like these three women have to adapt to changing circumstances and to a society in constant evolution.
A Bit More Everyday - Ham Havâyi was particularly enthusiastically received by press and public in Iran. The play did well at the 2015 Fadjr International Theatre Festival: Elham Korda and Setareh Eskandari won awards in the ‘best actress’ category and Mahin Sadri won the ‘best script’ category. She began her career in the theatre as script girl, author and actress at Amir Reza Koohestani’s Mehr Theater Group. Director Afsaneh Mahian also began her career as an actress. She is now a celebrated director with more than a dozen plays to her name.
