Season premiere!
Come travel with GBS along the Silk Road, with a visit from three masters of their respective traditions: Sandeep Das (Indian tabla), Kayhan Kalhor (Persian kamancheh, or spiked fiddle), Karen Ouzounian (Western cello), and other members of the Silkroad Ensemble. Kalhor's mystical 2002 composition Blue as the Turquoise Night of Neyshabur is Classical music steeped in the traditions of Persia and Iran. We'll also have a composition by Colin Jacobsen – Atashgah for kamancheh and strings -- and cap the evening with the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, performed by Matthew Hill, 16-year old prodigy and co-winner of GBS’ Young Instrumentalists’ Competition 2019.
