Visit the MFA to celebrate Nowruz—the Persian New Year—and welcome the first signs of spring! Learn about Nowruz traditions and explore Persian works of art, demonstrations, music, dance and more!
- Enjoy a multi-faceted performance based on Persian myths and poetry with Paris-based Iranian modern dancer Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam, joined by dancer Karine Gonzales with readings by Suzie Ziai in Persian and English.
- Visit and view a traditional Haft Seen, a key element to any Nowruz celebration. This traditional arrangement includes seven symbolic items, all starting with the Persian letter sīn, or s. Take photos with family and friends, find all seven S’s and observe the New Year festival. Designed and organized by Farzaneh Fallah, Mostafa Masomi and Mojgan Olia.
- Watch Nowrooz Stayed Untouched, an original musical/media performance by composer and soprano, Shooka Afshar, in collaboration with Rhode Island School of Design animation students, Leilei Xia and Xindi Zhang.
