The Boston Forum on the Middle East, BU Center for International Relations and the Department of International Relations are pleased to present a public lecture with Dr. Ali Banuazizi.
The election of President Obama created some hope that the United States could begin a new policy of engagement with Iran. However, recent developments regarding Iran's nuclear program and protests following the recent Iranian election have made such engagement less likely. Both international sanctions and military confrontation have been considered as possible responses. Dr. Banuazizi will evaluate the current situation and how this may affect future U.S.-Iranian relations.
