Nowruz or the feast of the beginning of Spring is celebrated as the Persian new year in Iran and many surrounding countries and around the world. Expect music and dance from Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Tadjikistan, the Caucuses, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and countries surrounding the Persian Gulf area, as well as all their ethnic diaspora around the world.
The evening often includes a special menu served by the Central Market Cafe which includes dishes common in these regions during this time of celebration, as well as a special Nowruz table set up with items symbolizing health, prosperity, and renewal.
