On the 5th of November 2016 the exciting traditional Persian ensemble Nava will present its first exclusive concert, with broad appeal to both expatriates and Australian audiences at the Scott Theater, Adelaide University. Nava Ensemble, who has presented exceptional performances in recent years, has dedicated the past year to prudently compose and prepare pieces for this concert. “Love Speaks” is a new chapter in Nava’s history; a sensational chapter full of life and grace.
“Love Speaks” will take its audience on a journey through the many ways in which our lives are transformed and moved by love and music. Many of the selected songs have been composed by Nava as well as drawn from traditional sources featuring the centuries-old spiritual and mystical words of Persian poets such as Rumi, Hafez, Saadi and Omar Khayyam, with easy-to-follow translations. It presents a variety of energetic and tranquil music pieces to its audience, part of which consists of old Persian folk music.”- Nava Ensemble
Founded in 2010, Nava has presented many exceptional performances in South Australia. Highlights include the World Music Series at Nexus Multicultural Art Centre, Songs of Journey Concert at the Adelaide Festival Centre, The Nowruz Festival, the SA Medieval Festival and fully booked concerts at Prospect Town Hall and Elder Hall, Adelaide University. They have also performed in Melbourne at a conference for the Musicological Society of Australia (MSA).
“Nava Ensemble is an exciting, vital and highly virtuosic musical ensemble which aims to introduce audiences to Persian Classical Music and its wide repertoire of musical styles. Their passion for their musical heritage brought them together, as did their mutual aspiration to connect with Australian audiences through the medium of traditional Persian classical music.” -John A. Philips, Awards Chair and Newsletter Editor of MSA.
“Nava Persian Ensemble presents a series of passionate & meditative songs by famous Persian Sufi and ancient poets such as Rumi & Hafez. Nava Persian Ensemble was founded in 2010 by a group of South Australian Persian musicians. They have continued to develop their playing in the traditional style as well as develop a new repertoire. The music has been refined over a long period of time and influenced music throughout the Middle East and beyond.” -Keith Preston, Arts Manager at Migrant Resource Centre of South Australia
“Love Speaks” serves as a reason for us to celebrate love and embark on a spiritual journey to explore the rich and mystical tradition of Persian music and culture.
