Free Event

On May 12, the Baha'is of the United States will host a reception, film screening, and panel discussion in honor of the Yaran, the seven leaders of the Iranian Baha’i community, who will mark the eighth anniversary of their imprisonment on May 14 of this year. These individuals were sentenced to 20 years in prison, now reportedly reduced to 10 years, for practicing their faith.

A reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:00pm, followed by a screening of the new BBC Persian documentary film, Iranian Revolutionary Justice, at 6:30pm. A panel discussion featuring experts on human rights in Iran will begin at 7:30pm. The panel will feature Salim Nakhjavani of the University of the Witwatersrand; Dokhi Fassihian of Freedom House; and Roxana Saberi (invited), author of Between Two Worlds: My Life and Captivity in Iran. It will be moderated by Geneive Abdo of the Atlantic Council.

The event is free and open to all those who wish to attend. It will not be live streamed.
