Impact of Immigration Changes on the Iranian Community PastThursday, Aug 22, 2013 ,
The majority of this event will be in Farsi
This event is sponsored by the International Federation of Iranian Refugees, No One is Illegal and Radio Pazhvak
In the past year the Conservative government with the help of former Immigration Minister Jason Kenny, has dramatically changed many immigration policies and laws that make it more difficult for asylum seekers and refugees to seek safety in Canada. Those who make it to Canada against all the odds, face severe treatment including time in prison. The long list of recent changes also impacts sponsorship of families and spouses.
We would like to invite you to join us for a community meeting and an update on the changes to the Canadian immigration and refugee laws affecting the Iranian community. A lawyer will be present for part of the meeting to describe the changes followed by a discussion of what we can do and how we can act together in response to the changes. For privacy and security reasons there will be no discussion of individual cases.
