Shahrzad was born in Tehran and left her homeland when she was 12. She is part of the Iranian generation that has experienced living through a revolution, war and repression and her music often times reflects these experiences. Shahrzad started her professional singing career as part of the female band "Silhouette" in the late 90's. After releasing her first CD/album and touring the U.S. she left the band and began her solo career in 2000. So far she has released 4 albums including the new CD “Yek Rooz”. Her latest collaboration with producer & Jazz musician, Farzin Farhadi, Shahrzad's expressive vocal stylings, touching songs and strong stage presence have won her many fans around the world.
