Nour Festival of Arts: An Exploration of Persian Music with Kiana Shafiei, Adib and Mehdi Rostami Past

Monday, Oct 24, 2016 ,
7:00 PM
- Kensington, W14 8, United Kingdom

Combining traditional music and contemporary approaches, this concert is deeply rooted and imbued with a sense of tradition but at the same time with a contemporary voice, celebrating the music of Iran and Iranian composers. In the first part, Kiana Shafiei gives a solo piano recital showcasing some of the most notable Iranian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, including André Aminollah Hossein, Behzad Ranjbaran and Alireza Mashayekhi.

In the second half, a beautifully absorbing performance by Adib and Mehdi Rostami, consisting of Setar, Tombak and Kamanche builds and intensifies, stirring both the artists and listeners to become ecstatically lost in the music.
