Dr. Cyrus Zargar will discuss the state of Iranian popular culture today, especially as it relates to current events. Film, television, music, and literature in Iran today reflect a society that is young, hopeful about the future, reflective about the past and very conscious of global perceptions. Building on a rich heritage of poetry and music, Iranian artists have something to say about Iranian identity and the headlines and controversies frequently surrounding Iran.
