Layla and Majnun by Mark Morris Dance Group and Silk Road Ensemble Past

Sept 30 to Oct 2, 2016 ,
8:00 PM - 5:30 PM
- Berkeley, CA, United States

Mark Morris’ lyrical choreography, the emotive voices of Azerbaijan’s Alim Qasimov and Fargana Qasimova, the vibrant musicality of the Silk Road Ensemble, and the striking visual palette of British painter Howard Hodgkin combine in this world premiere performance. Mark Morris’ new work expresses themes of love, tragedy, and social justice in a juxtaposition of the traditional and the new.
