Sizdah-Bedar Celebration: Hosted by PSA and IGSA PastSunday, Apr 5, 2015 ,
We are celebrating Sizdah-bedar, the 13th day of Nowruz, at Gallup Park in Ann Arbor, MI!
POTLUCK STYLE. We have posted a list of food that we are suggesting people bring. Please comment with what you can bring and we'll update the list with your name.
For those who don't know, Sizdah-bedar is the day that ends Nowruz celebrations and it marks the beginning of the return to ordinary life. "Sizdah-" means thirteen, and "bedar," means to get rid of.
In Iran, most people spend the day going to parks with friends and family and packing picnics. It's believed that joy and laughter clean the mind from all evil thoughts, and a picnic is usually a festive, happy event.
