For the past 27 years, the Benefit black- tie gala has featured Los Angeles’ largest fashion show with more than 70 professional models in 175-plus fashion designs for women, men and juniors. Approximately 900 guests—an affluent, creative crowd made up of the people who make Los Angeles happen including, business and entertainment, stylists, fashion and design retailers, celebrities, and fashion fans—get a glimpse at the future of fashion design from the perspective of those who invent it— Otis fashion students!
View runway fashion designed by students under the direction of mentors: Todd Magill for Anthropologie, Michael Maccari for Armani Exchange, Patricia Marquis for Cosabella, John Cherpas for Hurley, Todd Oldham, Robin Piccone with JonMikel Rodrigues for O’Neill, Lilly Pulitzer, Robert Rodriguez, Koi Suwannagate, Tadashi Shoji for Tadashi, Isabel and Ruben Toledo with Patagonia, and Trina Turk (with Xtra Life LYCRA®).
In 2009, close to $1 million was raised in one night for scholarships benefiting students across disciplines at Otis. Many of these promising young artists and designers would be unable to complete their education without this financial support.
